Young Guns Live Up to their Name in 5-0 Win over JOG
October 18th, 2024
Father's vs Son's?
In the 3rd game of the night, JOG Sportswear faced off against Young Guns Hockey Club. The Young Guns line up was made up of 4 father/son pairs, with a few being rookies to the SCIHL.
The entire game was pretty evenly played with chances being traded on both ends of the ice. And it wasn’t until the end of the first period that Sherman Chan scored a tap in on the side after Christopher Lee put one off the arm of Stephanie Fok and Chan was in the right spot to the side of the net to make sure the puck was in the net. 1-0 Young Guns after 1.
Calix Ma finished a nice pass from Danny Chiu and Yaann Yuen early in the 2nd to double the lead, as Young Guns pressed but were unable to increase the lead any further.
The game continued to be closely fought until about 6 minutes left in the 3rd where Calix scored his 2nd of the night, again from Chiu putting up an insurance goal for Young Guns. As JOG pressed to try and get their first goal, it was instead Izzac Chan, and Danny Chiu scoring on back-to-back shifts with 2 minutes left to round out the scoring. 5-0 the final.
Cameron Chiu in his first start in an adult league had an impressive 19 save shutout to open his campaign.
Stephanie Fok (JOG) faced 23 shots while Camercon Chiu (Young Guns) faced 19 shots for the shutout.
Three Stars of the game:
1. Cameron Chiu (Young Guns)
2. Calix Ma (Young Guns)
3. Danny Chiu (Young Guns)
