Week 12 - Division 3 Scoreboard

JANUARY 30th, 2026 GAME 1 Manulife pulls away from China Hockey Group 5-2 with balanced scoring and strong goaltending Manulife secured a commanding 5-2 win over China Hockey Group thanks to steady scoring, a dominant middle frame, and a sharp performance from Grant Phillips in net. Manulife opened the scoring early when Ryan Lee struck unassisted at 2:19, burying a quick shot to make it 1-0. CHG answered midway through the period when Warren Ang tied it 1-1 at 8:14, finishing a pass from Stephen Levac. Before the first ended, Manulife regained the lead. Edwin Lau made it 2-1, when CHG goalie Sumi Chau misplayed a puck behind net and intercepted by Lau. He fired it towards the net deflecting off Stephen Levac’s skate and into the open cage. The second period saw Manulife take control. Reto Broennimann extended the lead to 3-1 just 18 seconds in, when he received a pass from Gary Lawrence in between the faceoff dots and fired over the pad and under the blocker. Minutes later, Lau struck again on the power play at 4:00, converting a rebound on the right side of the net and put it shortside on Chau to push the lead to 4-1. CHG clawed one back at 6:20 when Keith Hong buried a give and go with Warren Ang to cut it to 4-2, but that was as close as they’d get. Manulife sealed the win late in the third when Broennimann added his second of the night at 12:26 on another well-executed passing play, this time from Jason Yip and Jackie Chan, making it 5-2. Grant Phillips was excellent between the pipes with 26 saves on 28 shots, while Sumi Chau stopped 19 of 24 at the other end. Three Stars of the Game: 1. Edwin Lau (Manulife) - 2 goals 2. Grant Phillips (Manulife) - 26 saves 3. Ryan Lee (Manulife) - 1 goal, 1 assist GAME 2 AsiaXpat edges VetiVa 4-3 in overtime thriller AsiaXpat pulled off a dramatic 4-3 overtime win against VetiVa in a fast-paced, physical matchup that featured momentum swings, clutch scoring, and a standout performance from Alvin Sham. VetiVa opened the scoring early in the second period when Art Tam struck just 32 seconds in, finishing a perfect pass from Theo Wong from behind the net to make it 1-0. Wong doubled the lead a few minutes later on the power play at 5:40, when he was left all alone to the left of the net as he made no mistake ripping it past the blocker of Martin Jim (Xpat LPP) to put VetiVa up 2-0. AsiaXpat responded quickly. Rick Chu cut the lead to 2-1 at 6:30 with a massive slapshot, and Sham tied the game at 7:56 when he broke past 3 defenders and goes short side top corner to tie the game. Sham then struck again at 12:27, this time unassisted, as he stole the puck at the blue line and rifled a slapshot top corner blocker side past Adrian Huen to give AsiaXpat a 3-2 lead heading into the third. VetiVa fought back in the final frame. Wong notched his second of the night at 11:42, finishing a crisp passing sequence from Matt Ng and Tam to tie the game 3-3. Both teams exchanged chances late, including a 2-man advantage for VetiVa, but they were unable to get past the Xpat defense and Martin Jim. In overtime, VetiVa continued their powerplay, but instead of capitalizing on the extra man, they allowed Sham to complete his hat-trick after stepping out of the box and receiving a pass from Justin Wong. Sham then took it to net on a partial breakaway, making no mistake by cutting across the crease and outwaiting Huen at full stretch before backhanding it in the net for the game-winner. Adrian Huen turned aside 25 of 29 shots for VetiVa, while Martin Jim (LPP) made 19 saves on 22 shots for AsiaXpat. Three Stars of the Game: 1. Alvin Sham (AsiaXpat) - 3 goals (including OT winner) 2. JOG struck early when Tracy Wong opened the scoring at 4:20 of the first period, finishing a breakaway from the blueline in and using the Kucherov "no deke" deke to make it 1-0. In the 2nd period, JOG capitalized on the powerplay as Art Tam (JOG LPP) one timed a pass at the side of the net from a Tracy Wong pass to make it 2-0. However, RBC answered late in the second when Corey Ng tied the game 1-1 on the power play at 14:42, picking up deflected shot on the right side and firing it glove side. But from there, it was all JOG. Tracy Wong scored her 2nd of the night after taking a Alvin Sham (JOG LPP) pass from behind the net, and in one spin-o-rama motion, fired it past Titlis Joe (RBC LPP) to make it 3-1. Shortly after, Sham takes a pass from Wong just past the faceoff dot, and roofs it glove side top corner, 4-1. Scott Strickland rounded out the scoring when Tam did a no look pass from behind the net to Strickland coming right down main street as he put it past Joe to seal the 5-1 victory. In goal, Martin Jim delivered an outstanding performance, stopping 22 of 23 shots. RBC’s Titlis Joe Cheuk Fung (LPP) made 22 saves on 27 shots in the loss on his SCIHL debut. Just a minute later, Juerg Fritschi extended the advantage to 3-1 as he one timed a cross-ice pass from Theo Wong from the right faceoff dot past Grant Phillips.
