GAME 1
Manulife edges VetiVa 4-3 with Broennimann leading the charge
Manulife held off VetiVa 4-3 in a tight matchup highlighted by a two-goal effort from Reto Broennimann and strong goaltending from Sheldon Ng (Manulife LPP).
VetiVa struck first at 5:28 when Paul Chai finished a one-timer off a feed from Theo Wong to make it 1-0. Manulife responded moments later as Broennimann tied it at 6:26 when he skated on a big rebound up the middle off an Edwin Lau shot. But VetiVa regained the lead at 10:00 when Wong snapped home a shot under the glove and over the pad after a nice give and go with Matt Ng.
Manulife took control in the second period. Broennimann tied the game 2-2 at 5:28 when he skated down the left boards, got by the first defenseman, and as he cut across the slot, was tripped, but still scored while flying thru the air for a highlight reel goal. Jackie Chan then put Manulife ahead 3-2 at 10:37 after Leroy Hung set him up from behind the net. Manulife then struck shorthanded at 13:58 - Ryan Lee picked up an errant pass at his own blueline, skated up the ice and fires from the top of the faceoff circle going top corner to extend the lead to 4-2.
VetiVa made things interesting in the third. Bonnie Lui scored at 2:04 on the doorstep after Paul Chai threaded a pass through the slot, cutting the deficit to 4-3.
Sheldon Ng shut the door the rest of the way, finishing with 23 saves on 26 shots. Arthur Chan kept VetiVa close with 21 saves on 25 shots.
GAME 2
AsiaXpat explodes for an 11-3 win over RBC Lions
AsiaXpat delivered one of their most dominant performances of the season, overpowering the RBC Lions 11-3 thanks to a four-goal night from Alvin Sham and a hat trick from Rick Chu.
AsiaXpat wasted no time getting on the board-just 50 seconds in, Sham finished a quick one timer after receiving a pass from Paul Kim. RBC responded at 2:10 when Justin Kuok scored on the power play, getting his birthday goal, converting a setup from Robert Chiu at the top of the slot to tie the score 1-1. From there, AsiaXpat took complete control. Josh Steinhaus (AsiaXpat LPP) restored the lead with a breakaway goal at 3:10, then struck again unassisted at 6:00 with a shot that snuck thru and rolled over the line. Jackie Chan (AsiaXpat LPP) then extended the advantage to 4-1 at 9:50 when he one-timed a shot from Steinhaus.
The second period was all AsiaXpat. Sham scored his second at 2:30 with a breakaway goal, then completed the natural hat trick at 7:00 high glove, off a feed from Justin Wong. Chu added a pair at 11:20 and 13:44 - both assisted by Sham - to make it 8-1 after two periods.
AsiaXpat kept rolling in the third. Chu completed his hat trick at 1:32, Wong added another at 4:30, and Sham scored his fourth of the night at 9:40 to make it 11-2. Antoine Devolz struck twice late for RBC, once unassisted at 6:50 and again at 14:32 on a setup from Kevin Wong, but the gap was far too large to close.
Nicholas Sellars was solid for AsiaXpat with 18 saves on 21 shots, while Arthur Chan faced a heavy 35-shot barrage in the RBC net.

GAME 3
JOG overpowers China Hockey Group 11-4
JOG put together an offensive showcase, defeating China Hockey Group 11-4 behind a standout nine-point performance from Tracy Wong.
JOG opened the scoring at 6:20 of the first period when Wong struck on the power play off a setup from Alvin Sham and Arthur Tam (JOG LPP’s). Sham followed at 9:00, finishing a passing play from Nathan Chow and Wong for a 2-0 lead. CHG answered at 11:02 when Stephen Levac scored up the middle off a 3 on 2 with Jon Mei and Warren Ang, but JOG restored their two goal cushion at 12:00 when Brian Luk put the an Oscar Lam rebound in from the side of the net. 3-1 JOG.
CHG clawed back early in the second when Warren Ang scored at 2:34, assisted by David Finifter and Marco Au. Howard Chun (AsiaXpat LPP) tied the game 3-3 at 4:32 after Finifter forced a turnover at the blue line and Chun puts a slapshot in from the point stick side. But JOG regained momentum quickly - Arthur Tam made it 4-3 after a give-and-go with Wong and Sham. Wong struck again at 9:36 on the power play to push the lead to 5-3. Alton Ho added another at 11:34, finishing a pass from Sham, and Scott Strickland extended it to 7-3 coming down the slot at 12:27 after a setup from Wong and Tam. Sham capped the period with his second of the night, late in the period backhand top corner, assisted by Wong and Andy Ma. 8-3 after 2 periods.
JOG continued the pressure in the third. Arthur Tam scored on a 2-on-1 off a feed from Wong and Sham to make it 9-3. CHG answered at 7:12 when Marco Au scored on the power play, assisted by Finifter and Howard Chun. JOG responded yet again - Strickland at 8:46 and Wong at 9:34 - to close out the 11-4 win.
Martin Jim earned the victory with 11 saves on 15 shots, while Nicholas Sellars faced 28 shots in the CHG net.
