Warriors inch closer to third place with 6-3 win over Aces

February 2nd, 2024

Going into their game against the Kowloon Warriors, the Macau Aces have been the only team that has not lost in the second half of the SCIHL season so far. The Warriors meanwhile are also finding more success in 2024 bolstered by the addition of some strong LPPs into their line up the past few games.

Macau drew first blood with just two minutes into the game on a goal by all time Aces scoring leader Whitney Olsen. The Warriors would counter just a few minutes later on a goal by Massachusetts native Kevin O'Toole. Swedish centreman Yosef Natour would regain the lead for the Aces though, sending it past the Warriors LPP goaltender Rudi Bernart just a minute later. With the game's first three goals falling within the first five minutes of the match, we wouldn't have another goal until the nine minute mark of the first frame as Kevin O'Toole would find the back of the net again for the Warrior's equalizer. The Aces would take back the lead once again though on Whitney Olsen's second of the night just less than two minutes after O'Toole's goal.

It was a back and forth period in the first frame, however Macau's offense would dry up afterwards. The Warriors would tie the game up in the second period on Hong Kong native and Kowloon LPP Lokel Wong's goal. The Warriors would then take over the lead just shortly after on LPP Connor Daly's marker for a score of 4-3. The Warriors would shut out the Aces once again in the third period while pumping two more goals behind Macau goaltender Craig Gouk with Kevin O'Toole's completion of his hat trick and Lokel Wong's second of the evening. The game would end in a 6-3 victory for the Kowloon Warriors over the Macau Aces.

Kevin O'Toole would be the catalyst in the Warriors' victory with three goals and an assist. Additionally LPPs Connor Daly and Lokel Wong would finish with four points as well. Meanwhile, on top of Whitney Olsen's pair of goals for the Aces, Yousef Natour would come away with three points in his team's defeat. This is the first lost for the Aces in 2024 as the Warriors have recently put together some crucial victories in a bid to climb out of the SCIHL basement.
