Warriors net 11 as Tycoons stay winless in 2024

January 26th, 2024

With losses in their first two games of 2024, the Hong Kong Tycoons were looking to get back to their winning ways. While the Kowloon Warriors, dead last in the SCIHL standings, were just simply looking for a win period.

On top of that, the Warriors are still without their goaltender Antoine Devolz, out indefinitely with a knee injury. After riding on LPP Ray Loo the past few games, the team then turned towards thirteen year old goaltender Rexton Chui for their match against the Tycoons.

Perhaps some early jitters were present as the Tycoon's Francis Lam sniped one past the Warriors LPP goalie. Kowloon wouldn't let their young tendy hang out to dry however as they countered with two straight goals by LPP Nicholas Weberg and Brian Knowles. Former NCAA D3 star Connor Quinn would tie it up for Hong Kong but the Warriors would counter with two more goals to close out the period, off the twigs of Kosuke Ikeda and Weberg's second of the game.

With the second period sitting at 4-2 for the Warriors, the goals kept on coming with tallies by Kevin O'Toole, Mitchell Wong and Weberg's third goal of the match. On the other end, the Tycoons were only able to muster two markers, with Francis Lam's second of the game and Leon Ruelle's first of the evening.

With the game sitting at 7-4 for the Warriors in the third period, the Tycoons were just simply unable to match the Warriors' attack. The Tycoons valiantly registered three more goals in the final period with Francis Lam's third goal, veteran Jeff Wall's tally and Ruelle's second of the night. But that wasn't enough as the Kowloon Warriors put another four goals on the board, on goals by O'Toole's second of the night, LPP Jesse Lussier and star defenseman David Belluche's pair of goals late in the third period capping the game with a 11-7 victory over the Hong Kong Tycoons.

Rexton Chui, the thirteen year old LPP goaltender for the Kowloon Warriors would come away with his first ever SCIHL victory with 39 saves on the evening. Another Warrior LPP Nicholas Weberg would end the match with an astounding eight points.  Incredibly, all but one of the Kowloon skaters would register at least one point in the game.

Meanwhile, Francis Lam would continue to be an offensive threat with a hat trick and Leon Ruelle would walk away with three points in the Tycoon's defeat.
