Aces streak reaches 4 as they knock off 1st place Lions

In a showdown between the RBC Lions and the Macau Aces, we had two teams that had not loss a game during 2024. The Lions have retained their league lead throughout virtually the entire season so far while the Aces have been recently surging up the standings.

The Aces got off to a fantastic start with two markers on the backs of Lucas Eshleman and Timmy Henglein respectively. The Lions would respond however near the end of the first frame on a goal by Nicholas Weberg.

The former Yale Bulldog Weberg would find the back of the net again, tying up the game with just 46 seconds in the second period. The Aces would regain their lead however, scoring four unanswered goals by LPP Kosuke Ikeda, native Hong Konger John Ng and Lucas Eshleman potting another two goals to round out his hat trick.

Nicholas Weberg would then round out a hatty of his own with just 20 seconds left in the second frame. The Aces would score the last goal of the game off the stick of LPP Dave Belluche in the third period and close out the game at 7-3 over the RBC Lions.

The Lions were without their stars Greg Smyth and Edmonton Oilers legend Robbie Schremp in the loss. On top of Weberg's hat trick, Pennsylvania native Brad Wilson contributed with two assists for RBC.

Meanwhile, former Maritime Junior Hockey League star Lucas Eshleman closed out the evening with five points in total while LPPs Dave Belluche, Kosuke Ikeda and Aces regular Yosef Natour each came away with three points on the night.
