Aces Climb into Second Place after 8-7 Victory over Tycoons

After starting 2024 with a loss, the Hong Kong Tycoons were looking to rebound against the Macau Aces whom conversely started off the new year with a victory last week.
In largely a back and forth affair, the game was tied two a piece to end the first period. The Tycoons' Connor Quinn had two goals while the Aces' Whitney Olsen had two points going into the second period.
The Tycoons opened the scoring in the second frame on a goal by Cathay pilot Jimi Fanstone; one of his three points on the evening. However the Aces answered back and taking the lead on goals by Mark Hinch and Timmy Henglein. The Tycoons would tied it up close to the four minute mark though with their newest acquisition Leon Ruelle. But the Aces would regain the lead with just two seconds left in the second period on Whitney Olsen's second tally of the game. All of this built up towards what would prove to be quite an exciting third and final frame.
Heading into the third with a 5-4 lead, the Aces built upon it with another two goals by Swede Yosef Natour and Calgary native Lucas Eshleman respectively. The latter player was essentially gifted his tally by LPP Tycoons goaltender Marco Au misplaying the puck, landing on Eshleman's blade then into the back of the net. Down by three at this point, the Tycoons refused to pack it in as they countered with two markers of their own to pull within one, on goals by Francis Lam and Jimi Fanstone's second of the night.
However the Aces would stem the Tycoons' surge with Lucas Eshleman's completion of his hat trick. Despite that, the Tycoons would pot a goal with just two minutes remaining in the third and were on full attack with their goalie pulled. Nevertheless the Macau Aces would hang on and close the game with a tight and thrilling victory of 8-7 over the Hong Kong Tycoons.
