Week 10 - Division 3 Scoreboard

JANUARY 16th, 2026 GAME 1 VetiVa outguns China Hockey Group 7-4 in offensive showcase VetiVa erupted for seven goals in a high-tempo matchup, defeating China Hockey Group 7-4 behind big nights from Theo Wong and Matt Ng. Wong opened the scoring just two minutes into the game with an unassisted marker after picking off an errant clearing and going top corner glove side from the low slot, and Ng extended the lead to 2-0 at 5:20 picking up a loose puck to the right of the net and chipping it past Sumi Chau. Wong struck again at 7:30, finishing another unassisted effort after intercepting a pass on the left boards at center ice and skating in alone and putting it thru the 5-hole to make it 3-0 before CHG answered late in the period when VetiVa’s defense blew a tire while being last man back, and giving David Finifter a clean breakaway where he scored top corner glove side at 12:50. The second period saw VetiVa reassert control. Robbie Lee scored at 2:00 with a one timer from a beautiful pass from the point by Mark Pavey to restore the three-goal cushion. Warren Ang cut the lead to 4-2 at 7:37 with a backhand shot that eluded Adrian Huen after CHG outmanned VetiVa’s defense behind the net and came out with the puck. But VetiVa responded with goals from Ng at 10:00 and 11:04, the first a one timer from the low slot when Wong fed a pass out from behind the goal line, followed by a laser from the right faceoff dot past Chau again top corner glove. Wong then completed his hat trick at 12:50 after a breakaway pass from Juerg Fritschi to make it 7-2 when he went across the crease and put it backhand by Chau. CHG battled back in the third with two late goals-Stephen Levac scored at 11:46 after jamming a loose puck in at the side of the net, and Keith Hong scored shorthanded at 13:28 after collecting his own rebound and stuffing it in from behind the goal line-but the deficit proved too large. Adrian Huen was solid for VetiVa with 19 saves on 23 shots, while Sumi Chau stopped 15 of 22 for CHG. Three Stars of the Game: 1. Theo Wong (VetiVa) - 3 goals, 3 assists 2. Matt Ng (VetiVa) - 3 goals 3. Keith Hong (CHG) - 1 goal, 2 assists GAME 2 AsiaXpat tops JOG Sports 5-3 behind Alvin Sham’s four-goal night AsiaXpat defeated JOG Sports 5-3 thanks to an explosive performance from Alvin Sham, who recorded four goals-including two in the opening five minutes - to set the tone early. Sham opened the scoring at 3:40 off a feed from Rick Chu, and Justin Wong followed with an unassisted tally at 7:41 to make it 2-0. Sham struck again at 8:52, assisted by David Lee, giving AsiaXpat a commanding 3-0 lead after the first. JOG surged back in the second period. Tracy Wong converted on the power play at 1:00, assisted by Warren Ang (JOG LPP) and Leon Mo. Mo cut the deficit to one with an unassisted goal at 4:20, and Ang tied the game 3-3 at 6:50 after a passing play with Mo and Scott Strickland. But Sham halted the comeback with his third of the night at 11:34, again assisted by Lee. He added his fourth at 14:12 of the third period to put the game out of reach. Nicholas Sellars was strong in net for AsiaXpat with 16 saves, while Martin Jim faced 20 shots, turning aside 15. Three Stars of the Game: 1. Alvin Sham (AsiaXpat) - 4 goals 2. Leon Mo (JOG) - 1 goal, 2 assists 3. David Lee (AsiaXpat) - 2 assists GAME 3 Manulife shuts out RBC Lions 4-0 with dominant second period Manulife powered past RBC Lions 4-0 on the strength of a massive second-period surge and a flawless performance from Grant Phillips. After a scoreless opening frame highlighted by tight checking and limited chances, Manulife broke the game open early in the second. Jason Yip opened the scoring at 4:20, converting a setup from Jackie Chan to make it 1-0. Just over a minute later, Gary Lawrence doubled the lead at 5:24 with help from Jhonny Leung. Yip struck again at 6:30 - this time finishing off a feed from Reto Broennimann-to put Manulife firmly in control. Broennimann then added the fourth goal at 14:22, assisted by Yip and Paul Chai (Manulife LPP), capping a dominant period. RBC tried to push back in the third but could not solve Phillips, who turned aside all 19 shots he faced for the shutout. Martin Jim (RBC LPP) battled hard at the opposite end, stopping 13 of 17 for the Lions. Three Stars of the Game: 1. Grant Phillips (Manulife) - Shutout, 19 saves 2. JANUARY 8, 2026 GAME 1 China Hockey Group pulls away from RBC Lions in 6-3 win China Hockey Group continued their strong form with a 6-3 victory over RBC Lions, using balanced scoring and timely goals to pull away late. CHG jumped out early as Matt Ng (CHG LPP) had a tap in following a shot by Jason Wong just over a minute in. Jason Wong followed that 6 minutes later with a backhand 5-hole goal to make it 2-0. RBC responded through Vincent Ahrens at 9:48, but Jason Wong struck again a minute later to restore the two-goal cushion. RBC clawed back in the second period when Kevin Wong's point shot sails past a screened Sumi Chau at 1:58 and Justin Kuok's laser from the top of the faceoff dot past Chau at 6:37 to tie the game at 3-3. CHG answered immediately as Art Tam (CHG LPP) scored a onetimer as Jerry Ho (CHG LPP) fed a pass from behind the net, to regain the lead heading into the third. In the final frame, Matt Ng finished a 2 on 1 with Tam for the insurance marker, before Jason Wong sealed the win and his hattrick, with an empty-net goal at 14:21 to round out the scoring. Sumi Chau was sharp for CHG, stopping 20 of 23 shots, while Arthur Chan turned aside 15 of 20 at the other end. Three Stars of the Game: 1. Jason Wong (CHG) - 3 goals, 1 assist 2. Justin Kuok (RBC) - 1 goal, 1 assist 3. Sumi Chau (CHG) - 20 saves GAME 2 VetiVa overwhelms JOG Sports 7-2 with explosive offense VetiVa delivered a dominant offensive performance, rolling past JOG Sports 7-2 in a game that quickly tilted in their favor. Matt Ng opened the scoring at 3:36 of the first period with a tap in on the side of the net after Martin Jim stopped Theo Wong’s breakaway, but JOG briefly answered when Leon Mo tied it at 7:24. At the end of the first, VetiVa thought they restored the lead when Art Tam finished a scramble in front of the net and scored post and in, only to have the refs rule the buzzer had gone off before the puck completely crossed the line. 1-1 after the first. From there, VetiVa took full control. On the first shift of the 2nd period, Art Tam restored the lead with a backhand post and in, off a nice entry and feed from Theo Wong. Paul Chai followed with his goal low glove from the slot after taking a great pass from Jason Wong (VetiVa LPP) from the corner, and Theo Wong made it 4-1 late in the period with Ng collecting the assist. The floodgates opened in the third as Chai scored just 30 seconds in as he pounced on a loose rebound, Jason Wong added another 2 minutes later, and Jason Wong completed his night with his second a few minutes later. Oscar Lam managed a late marker for JOG at 11:40, but the outcome was long decided. Adrian Huen was solid between the pipes for VetiVa with 10 saves on 12 shots, while Martin Jim faced relentless pressure, stopping 17 of 24. Three Stars of the Game: 1. Paul Chai (VetiVa) - 2 goals, 1 assist 2. Matt Ng (VetiVa) - goal, 2 assists 3. Theo Wong (VetiVa) - 1 goal, 2 assists GAME 3 Manulife edges AsiaXpat 3-2 in a tightly contested battle Manulife held off AsiaXpat 3-2 in a hard-fought matchup that remained undecided until the final minutes. AsiaXpat struck first early in the opening frame when Art Tam (AsiaXpat LPP) capitalized with a shot from the top of the right circle that went in off the top of the pad and under the glove for a 1-0 Xpat lead. Manulife responded at 7:41, catching Xpat on a bad line change, as Jackie Chan threaded a pass to a streaking Jason Yip on the far side of the net as he tipped it past Martin Jim (AsiaXpat LPP) to even the score at 1-1 after the first. Manulife took their first lead of the night early in the second period when Ryan CL Lee converted on the power play at 1:40 with a seeing eye shot from the point that sailed past a screened Jim. In the 3rd, AsiaXpat finally tied things up late in the third at 10:20 when Rick Chu buried a shot from the high slot, setting the stage for a tense finish. Late in the 3rd, Alvin Sham's breakaway was turned aside by Grant Phillips to preserve the tie, and that was key, as the decisive moment came with just over a minute remaining when Jackie Chan struck at 13:53, finishing a feed from Leroy Hung who beat the race for the puck, sat behind the net waiting for help, and finding Chan as he drove the net, one timing the pass to seal the win. Grant Phillips was steady in goal for Manulife, stopping 24 of 26 shots, while Martin Jim (LPP) faced heavy pressure, turning aside 11 of 14 for AsiaXpat. Three Stars of the Game: 1. About the South China Ice Hockey League

The SCIHL was the first ever Ice Hockey league organized in Hong Kong during the 1995-1996 season by a company called Asiasports Ltd. The company was founded by a group of Ice Hockey enthusiasts led by Tom Barnes. Today, the league is organized by a committee led by Commissioner Art Tam and Deputy Commissioner Grant Phillips and is supported by the China Hockey Group. The league is fun, competitive and provides more people the opportunity to play the coolest game in Asia.
