The opening frame set the tone as VetiVa struck twice - Josh Steinhaus opened the scoring at 9:04 with a nice backhand tip at the top off the crease off a feed from Bonnie Lui, followed by Theophilus Wong's end to end breakaway tally firing a shot past Martin Jim assisted by Art Tam. 2-0 after 1. Wong continued his scoring spree early in the second, netting two quick goals at 0:12 and 2:00, the latter coming after shots from both Matt Ng and Juerg Fritschi before Wong picked up the rebound and found the far post on a spin-o-rama shot for the hattrick. Matt Ng continued his multi-game scoring streak when he added his first of the night at 10:44 shotting 5-hole from the slot after a pass from Wong to make it 5-0 heading into the third. JOG Sports showed life in the final frame when Leon Mo pulled 3 VetiVa defenders to the left before passing into the slot to an unmarked Scott Strickland who made no mistake and broke Adrian Huen's shutout bid. VetiVa responded immediately - Fritschi buried one after skating all the way down and past 2 defenders before deking Jim at 6:17, while Ng capped the scoring for VetiVa with another just inside the far post. Rick Chu then followed with an unassisted shot over Grant Phillips' shoulder at 7:43 for a 3-0 lead. Manulife finally broke through at 10:55 when Jason Yip converted off Sean Tong's feed to make it 3-1 after 2 periods.
