The Mighty Mo

November 15 - Hong KongPeople call him Momo but teammate Vinny Chow calls him Mighty Mo, in reference to the outstanding game from Leon Mo. Momo scored three times and added four assists as Sam Wai had to hang on for dear life to snap out of a two game losing streak.Up 5-0 with only 7 seconds left in the second period, Sam Wai took the foot off the gas pedal and let Bravo make a game of it. Momo was awarded a penalty shot just 1:15 into the game as he was hooked from behind on a breakaway. Momo calmly skated in and slid the puck through Bravo goaltender Scott Yang for a 1-0 lead. Mid-way into the period, Momo struck again with his second of the night for a 2-0 lead. The second period was all Sam Wai, well most of it. Vinny Chow made it 3-0 on a nice pass from Momo. Chow was all alone in front of Yang and slid another one through him. Tam made it 4-0 on a nice 3-man breakaway with Fong head manning the puck to Momo, who dished it off to Tam who made no mistake beating Yang. Lawrence Nutting notched his first of the season to put Sam Wai up 5-0. Game over? Not just yet. Yoko Tormanen banked one off the butt of Sam Wai goaltender Ray Loo to put Bravo on the board with 7 seconds remaining in the period. That gave Bravo some life and they took full advantage against a fragile Sam Wai team in the third period. After Sam Wai nearly killed off a mysterious slashing call on Art Tam, John Ng was able to put one past Loo to a 5-2 lead. However, Sam Wai did get one back after a great rush by Thomas Poon when he entered the Bravo zone and made a nice pass to Momo. Momo held onto the puck to draw Yang across his crease and then passed it over to Keith Fong who had a tap in and to give Sam Wai a 6-2 lead. With just over five minutes left in the game, Bravo did not quit. Yoko made it 6-3 on a wraparound that beat Loo through his legs. Just over a minute later on a powerplay, Ashley Chow ripped a shot into the top corner past Loo’s glove to close within 2. With two minutes remaining, Sam Wai controlled the puck in the Bravo zone to kill a minute off the clock. The puck ended up in the Sam Wai zone in which John Ng, centred to Alan Lui who was left wide open. Lui’s weak backhander fooled Loo and went under his pad to close within a goal with just over a minute left. It was frantic action in the final minute but Momo crushed any hopes of a come back when he scored into the empty net with 10 seconds remaining. The 3 Stars of the Game1st Star: Leon Mo - 3 goals 4 assists2nd Star: Vincent Chow - 1 goal 2 assists3rd Star: John Ng - 1 goal 1 assistInterview with Vincent Chow - https://youtu.be/VI43EGe6G4U
