GAME 1
China Hockey Group holds off AsiaXpat 4-3 in a spirited
showdown

CHG struck first at 0:54 when Levac scored after receiving a pass from David Finifter. AsiaXpat answered at 10:20 through Allan Yee, who followed up and
picked up the loose puck after it was knocked off Rick Chu’s stick. Yee then rifled it far side glove top corner to tie the game 1-1. On the ensuing faceoff, Alvin Sham cut thru the CHG defense and goes 5-hole on Sumi Chau to make it 2-1 after 1.

In the 2nd, Finifter scored a quick goal just 20 seconds in from a Warren Ang feed, and a few minutes later, Finifter skated down the right side, faked a slapshot that freezes Yee before going by him and roofing it blocker side top corner to retake the lead heading into the third.

AsiaXpat equalized early in the final period when Paul Kim hunted down the puck behind the net and created the turnover, as he was taken down, Kim on his stomach, sweeps a pass across the crease to an unmarked Sham, who makes no mistake firing it by Chau to tie the game at 3. Xpat then found themselves on the powerplay, but it was CHG that answered - Sumi Chau made a big save while kicking the rebound up the zone to Levac who then skates down the ice and fires it post and in while short-handed to make it 4-3, a lead they would hold the rest of the way.

Sumi Chau was solid with 18 saves on 21 shots, while Nicholas Sellars faced 26 shots, stopping 22 for AsiaXpat.

GAME 2
VetiVa powers past RBC Lions 8-4 with explosive offensive display

VetiVa erupted for eight goals in a high-tempo matchup, defeating RBC Lions 8-4 behind a four-goal performance from Theo Wong.

VetiVa opened the scoring at 5:10 when Matt Ng snapped a shot low glove side off that caught the top of the pad and deflected into the net for a 1-0 lead. Theo Wong doubled the lead four minutes later, when he poked home a loose puck on the goal line after Arthur Chan stopped Matt Ng and Justin Lam in close. Late in the period, RBC responded-first Robert Chiu setup by Shane Weir from behind the net. Chiu was in the low slot when he received the pass and he then slotting it by Adrian Huen to cut the lead in half. Warren Ang (RBC LPP) then tied the game 2-2 at 14:14 with a quick shot from the left boards that found its way thru Huen’s pads.

VetiVa regained control early in the second. Wong buried his second at 2:20 after collecting a pass from Ng at the blueline and skating in for a breakaway going glove side low to make it 3-2. Juerg Fritschi then extended the lead as he gathered the puck off the faceoff and skated down the right boards, then cut thru the middle and finally goes backhand short side to restore the 2-
goal lead. Wong completed his hat trick on a 3 on 1 with Josh Steinhaus, this time going stick side. RBC stayed within reach as Antoine Devolz scored at 9:00 as he walked past the blueline and ripped a slapshot past Huen. But Bonnie Lui restored the three-goal cushion at 13:00 with a breakaway goal as she went forehand backhand to make it 6-3.

Wong and Devolz each traded goals before Matt Ng finished off another 3 on 1 to round out the scoring.

Adrian Huen was steady for VetiVa, stopping 27 of 31 shots, while Arthur Chan faced heavy pressure in the RBC net with 29 saves on 33 shots.

GAME 3
Manulife edges JOG Sports 4-3 with late third-period winner

Manulife earned a tight 4-3 victory over JOG Sports, capped by a late third-period strike from Stephen Levac (Manulife LPP).

JOG jumped ahead early-just 14 seconds into the game-when Art Tam (JOG LPP) finished a sharp passing play from Leon Mo and Andy Ma as he fired from the high slot post and in. Manulife responded at 4:40 when Jackie Chan buried a rebound created by Warren Ang’s pressure in front and the ensuing mad scramble. JOG regained the lead at 9:18 through Andy Ma, who backhanded a feed from Tam and Tracy Wong, and stretched it to 3-1 at 13:56 as Leon Mo received a pass from Tam from behind the net, as Mo did a 360 and slotted it
far post. Manulife closed the gap at 14:48 when Levac scored unassisted, cutting through the middle firing it top corner glove to pull within 1.

Manulife tied the game early in the second period on the power play at 7:30 when Ryan Lee fired from the right point past a screened Martin Jim into the top corner. Both teams tightened defensively through the remainder of the frame, setting up a tense third period.

The decisive moment came at 14:22 of the third when Levac struck again - this time barging his way through the JOG defense, while navigating past 4 JOG defenders, he gets into the slot and goes short side top corner to complete the comeback.

Titlis Joe Cheuk Fung (Manulife LPP) was sharp with numerous key saves in close in the Manulife crease including the last 30 seconds, stopping 21 of 24 shots, while Martin Jim faced 28 shots, turning aside 24 for JOG.
