The French Connection
Blake Steele and Leon Ruelle (LPP) combined for 15 points to lead Sapporo to an 11-9 win over the RBC Lions.
After a 3-2 first-period lead for Sapporo, they took a 7-5 lead heading into the third period. The teams went back and forth with Sapporo taking an 11-6 lead only to hang on at the end, RBC scored 3 times to close the gap to 11-9 but that was it as Sapporo had to hang on as they did in their previous game.
Steele had 7 points while Ruelle finished with 8 points - 5 goals 3 assists. Surprisingly, Ruelle was not selected as one of the stars.
