Sam Wai Gets Their First Win

Sam Wai Gets Their First Win

On a night where the Sam Wai Raptors pick up their first win of the season, they also handed the RBC Lions their first loss of the season. Jeff Wall led the way with 4 goals and 2 assists and credits the team’s passing that contributed to the win. His linemate Bryan Crane wasn't too shabby himself as he scored a hat trick and added a helper.

Sam Wai jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Scott Strickland ripped a shot on the short side that beat Sammy Wong, subbing in for Evan Thorpe who has a lower body injury. RBC tied it up when Francis Lam beat LPP goaltender Craig Gouk on his glove side. But just over a minute later, Wall scored on an individual effort to regain Sam Wai’s lead. Crane made it 3-1 before the period ended when Wall's initial shot missed but the puck came out to the other side of the net for an easy tap-in.

In the second period, Sam Wai padded their lead as Wall and Crane added to their goal total. RBC could not mustard much and looked out of sync. A far cry from their previous 3 wins in which they dominated each time.

Early in the third period saw Julian Ikeda beat Gouk to make it a 5-2 game. But that was as close as RBC got as Sam Wai scored 4 more times to close out the game.

Wong stopped 25 shots while Gouk stopped 9 for the win.
